
This performance at Lincoln Center is the first-ever National High School Choral Festival specifically celebrating LGBTQIA+ and gender expansive students and allies. This collaboration will provide a welcoming, open, and safe space to make music together and celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community through music education. Choirs will collaborate with co-guest conductors and a professional artist-in-residence in rehearsals and a final performance at the world-famous Lincoln Center.
Choirs from all over the country come together to create an unforgettable evening filled with luscious music and exciting visual projections. Audiences have never seen a choral concert like this before.
ABOUT THE GUEST CONDUCTORS
Dr. Nicholas McBride maintains an active career as a music teacher-educator, researcher, and conductor. He is Assistant Professor of Choral Music Education at The College of New Jersey.
He also supervises senior-level student teachers, and conducts TCNJ ‘s College Choir; an ensemble he has prepared for collaborative performances with the Philharmonia Orchestra of New York and The Philadelphia Orchestra.
J.D. Burnett enjoys a varied career as a conductor, singer, and teacher. He is Associate Professor of Music and Associate Director of Choral Activities at the University of Georgia Hugh Hodgson School of Music, where he conducts the University Chorus, Men’s Glee Club, Women’s Glee Club, and UGA Choral Project, teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in conducting and choral literature, and serves as chair of the conducting area. Additionally, Burnett is the founding Artistic Director of Kinnara, Atlanta’s premier professional chamber choir, and Artistic Director of Orpheus Chamber Singers in Dallas, TX. Burnett is also the Director of Music at Oconee Street United Methodist Church in Athens, GA.
